Welcome Back to School
Dear Middletown Families,
Welcome back to the 2026-2027 school year. The first day of classes for all Middletown Public School students will be on Thursday, August 27, 2026. (Pre-Kindergarten classes will also start on Thursday, August 27th). Incoming Kindergartens will be the Middletown High School Class of 2039. We are all looking forward to a great year as our schools are filled with students who are excited to learn. Personally, I think the first day of school is the best day of the year.
The 2026-2027 Bus Transportation Routes for all Middletown Public Schools are now posted on the district website at https://www.middletownschools.org. Please log onto our web page and look on the top of the home page under “Departments”, then click on “Transportation” to access the school bus routes (via Dattco Bus) by schools or click onto: https://www.dattcoschoolbus.com/ and choose Middletown. In addition, there is a header ‘drop down’ on the MPS Home Page for ‘Family Information,’ please visit that site for important school and district information for parents, guardians, and families like Parent Square and PowerSchool.
On Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 5PM to 8PM, the Superintendent’s Office will hold an Open House for all parents and guardians. Anyone who is interested may come to the Central Office (located at 311 Hunting Hill Avenue in Middletown) during that time to discuss individual student issues, educational initiatives, and the direction of the Middletown Public Schools. The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent will be on hand to answer parental questions or discuss educational issues privately. Appointments are not necessary.
As an educator, I believe in a whole child approach to learning. This includes the academic, social, and emotional growth for all students. Together, we strive for educational excellence to take Middletown to the next level of student performance. This district has huge potential for high standards of teaching and learning and we will strive for that in every classroom. I look forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure that your children can achieve their highest potential.
Thank you very much for your continued support of the Middletown Public Schools. We all look forward to seeing our students back in school on August 27th. Enjoy the rest of the summer!
Sincerely,
Joseph Macary, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
City of Middletown, Conn
